Artists can have similarly symbiotic relationships with Art Consultants and Architects as they do with galleries and dealers. An artwork can be the impulse for architects to create designs. Additionally, an “art program,” suite or collection can be the finishing touch on a project for clients. Architects and Art Consultants play integral roles in the careers of emerging artists, as these professionals can help artists foster relationships and build connections with new industries and corporate networks.
Please join us on Thursday, February 16th, with Margaret Heiner of Heiner Contemporary, and Greg Kearley of InScape Studio and Project 4 Gallery, as we explore:
- What is the scope of the role that architects and art consultants play in the careers of emerging artists?
- Where can artists find art consultants?
- How can artists begin to build relationships with architects and consultants?
- What are the different needs and criteria that consultants and architects have in regards selecting art?
- What do architects and consultants expect from artists, and what can artists expect from them?
Following brief overviews from the two speakers, the evening will run as an open forum with questions from the audience.

ABOUT OUR SPEAKERS:
Margaret Heiner is the Director and Founder of Heiner Contemporary, a new art gallery in Georgetown specializing in work by emerging and mid-career contemporary artists. Prior to opening Heiner Contemporary, she operated Aesthetica Art Consulting, an art consultancy that advised and helped select works of art for individuals and businesses. As an art consultant, Heiner sourced artwork to match each of her clients’ tastes and lifestyles, be it a work to complete a room or a collection for a corporate office. Past experience include positions at The Smithsonian Freer and Sackler Galleries in Washington, DC, The Children’s Museum of the Arts in New York City, and C&M Arts (now L&M Arts), a commercial gallery in Manhattan.
Greg Kearley, AIA, LEED AP, is an architect and Principal of Inscape Studio, as well as the Co-Founder and owner of Project 4 Gallery in Washington, DC, a contemporary art gallery that exhibits works of emerging and mid-career artists. Kearley’s design searches for the line that connects architecture to art and design. It is his belief that art and architecture benefit from an interdisciplinary exchange. Greg Kearley is also a Board Member of Hamiltonian Artists.
