Hamiltonian Artists provides training, mentoring and exhibition opportunities, as well as a modest stipend to each So Hamiltonian Fellow in the program with the hope that these resources allow the artists to advance their careers and contribute to the art community at large.

All fellows are provided ...

  • Representation by our partner Hamiltonian Gallery for the full two years of the fellowship.
  • Annual focused exhibitions at the Hamiltonian Gallery.
  • Regular critiques lead by mentor artists and with all exhibiting artists.
  • Regular seminars in art and business with leaders in the community.
  • Working with mentor artists to plan upcoming exhibitions.
  • Internship opportunities through Hamiltonian Gallery.
  • Grant writing assistance.
  • Post-fellowship placement assistance for artists looking for representation in other commercial galleries and positions in other art-related jobs.
  • Potential participations in national or international art events.
  • A portion of the work produced by the So-Hamiltonian Fellows will receive consideration for purchase at the end of their term.
  • Access to the e-Philanthropy micro-grants program run by Hamiltonian Artists.
  • Hamiltonian Artists, together with ARCH/Honfleur Gallery in SE, offers two rent-reduced live/work spaces (~600sq ft) to fellows interested in living in Washington, D.C.
  • A stipend of $1,000 per year for the duration of participation in the fellowship.
