Artist Statement

Space is a phenomenon between the perception through the senses and the personal interpretation of those impulses.

My recent work are installations that reflect about the concept of space and objects that become spaces. In every case the work needs the human body as basic ingredient to be complete and is based on the idea of the space in constant movement, mutation, ambivalence and connection with oder spaces. Therefore I decided to use garments as material, they need the relation with the body to be transformed into spaces that are flexible and/or in movement.

The subject of mobilization is intrinsic to my recent work. I am conscious of the many negative aspects that cause the migration and the difficult thing that it is to be a migrant. But from my privileged point of view I reflect about migration through the history and in a global way. When we think about the nomadic human history and the economic globalization of the present, it is clear that migration is a natural strategy for survival; we go where we think to be safer, where we find a job, where physical and emotionally we feel better. Humans are still in transit today.

My work is an experiment between the object and the space, between the individual and the collective, the naturally and the problematic of migration, between the convenience and the pleasure of space.
